 My client is a global drilling company who have an urgent requirement for a Lead Piping Engineer to work on a portfolio of projects for their client based in Aberdeen. My client is also looking for Piping Designers and Piping Engineers. 1Reporting line - The Lead Mechanical & Piping Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Manager. - The Mechanical & Piping Engineers and Designers will report directly to the Lead Mechanical & Piping Engineer. 2Role - The Lead Mechanical & Piping Engineer is designated to supervise all Mechanical & Piping engineering and design personnel. Responsible for the technical integrity of all Mechanical & Piping deliverables. 3Key responsibilities This role will be required to: - To ensure that the applicable legislation and standards are applied across all aspects of Mechanical & Piping delivery to the Project. These include: British Standards, NORSOK, API, ATEX, PED, Company procedures and processes, Client codes and standards, HS&E Regulations and EU Directives. - To identify and implement safe, cost effective, fit for purpose, field proven designs. - To maximise opportunities within design, to improve rig operability and maintainability. - To provide engineering solutions that demonstrate added value to both Seawell Operations and Client. - To provide full technical interface with all other discipline leads and Subcontractor and Specialist Engineering Vendors. - To assess and identify deviations to standards where necessary, ensuring acceptance of Client Technical Authorities. - To represent Seawell Engineering to Clients and Sub-contractors in a professional manner. - To report progress against project plans, noting any areas of concern and identifying corrective actions. - Identify appropriate resources for engineering works in accordance with agreed project plans. - To meet the requirements of the agreed schedule identified within the project plan for all Mechanical & Piping deliverables. - To generate the estimated manhours and costs for studies, surveys, engineering and construction scopes, materials and equipment into Project CTRs. - To ensure that the cross discipline Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Maintenance and Operational requirements are accounted for within the design. - To provide technical input / authoring of the respective discipline element of the Project that the Scope of Work (SOW) and Statement of Requirement (SOR). - To provide technical assurance to the Project that the Scope of Work (SOW) and Statement of Requirement (SOR) have been fully addressed in the design. - To provide technical assurance to the Project that previous lessons learned have been captured and incorporated into the current design. - To provide technical input respective to discipline at Project kick-off meetings. - To provide technical approval of all Mechanical & Piping design deliverables. - To provide Mechanical & Piping technical participation in Design Reviews, Readiness Reviews, HAZIDs and HAZOPs. - To provide technical, ethical, professional leadership, support and mentoring to colleagues. - To respect colleagues, clients and subcontractors at all levels, dealing with any dispute or conflict in a professional and personable manner. - Any other reasonable duties as specified by Line Manager.
